10 GROWTH TIPS FOR STARTER LOCS ๐Ÿ‘€ | HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR LOCS โ€ผ๏ธ| FAST HAIR GROWTH ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Welcome to the littest loc journey in history! If you’re here, you’re probably looking to start your loc journey or you’ve already begun and want to ensure you’re on the right track. Trust me, if you follow these tips, your loc journey will be lovely. Let’s dive right in!

1. Drink Water

First and foremost, the most important tip I can give you is to drink water! Water is essential for your overall health and plays a crucial role in the growth of your hair. Just like plants need water to grow, so does your body. By staying hydrated, you’re nourishing your body, and in turn, promoting healthy hair growth. So, ditch the soda and sugary drinks and stick to good old water.

2. Always Sleep with a Durag or Stocking Cap

When you’re in the early stages of your loc journey, it’s imperative to protect your hair while you sleep. Always wear a durag or a stocking cap at night. This will help keep your starter locs in place and prevent them from getting messed up. A bonnet might not provide the same level of grip as a durag, so make sure you choose wisely. A tight durag will ensure that your locs lay flat and look neat. Also, consider investing in a silk pillowcase to further protect your hair while you nap or sleep.

3. Do Not Wash Your Hair

During the starter loc phase, it’s crucial that you refrain from washing your hair. This is a time for your hair to lock up, and washing it too soon can unravel your progress. Instead, let your loctician wash your hair or do it right before your first retwist. If you absolutely must wash your hair, use a shower cap to protect your locs from getting wet.

4. Don’t Play with Your Hair

It’s tempting to play with your hair, especially when you see a loc that’s coming undone. But trust me, leave it alone! Constantly fiddling with your hair will only prolong the locking process. Let your hair do its thing and resist the urge to twist or tug at your locs.

5. Oil Your Hair Occasionally

To keep your scalp and locs healthy, you need to oil them regularly. Look for natural oils like tea tree oil, Moroccan oil, or Jamaican castor oil. You’ll know when your hair needs some oil; it might feel dry or itchy. Just remember, you don’t need to oil your hair every dayโ€”listen to your hair and you’ll learn when it’s time for a little moisture.

6. Wait for Your First Retwist

Patience is key when it comes to your first retwist. Wait at least a month or longer before getting one. This allows for more new growth and helps your hair lock up better. Frequent retwisting can lead to thin locs and damage your hair, so give your hair the time it needs to grow strong and healthy.

7. Don’t Style Your Starter Locs

While it’s tempting to style your hair, avoid doing so until your locs are more mature. Tight styles can put unnecessary stress on your scalp and locs, which can lead to breakage. Allow your hair to settle into its natural shape before experimenting with styles.

8. Avoid Dying Your Hair

Dyeing your hair during the starter loc phase can cause significant damage. Your hair will become soft and weak, making it more prone to breakage. Once your locs have matured and you’ve got some length to work with, feel free to dye your hair, but be cautious and do it sparingly.

9. Don’t Let the Jokes Get to You

People may make jokes about your locs during the early stages, but don’t let it get to you! Often, they’re just hating because they wish they had the same style. Keep your head up and remember why you started your loc journey in the first place. Confidence is key!

10. Trust the Process

Finally, the most important tip: trust the process. Your hair will go through different stages, and you’ll learn what works best for you along the way. Mistakes will happen, but that’s all part of the journey. Embrace it, and you’ll come out on the other side with beautiful locs.

Bonus Tip: Excedrin for Migraines

For those of you who suffer from migraines, I recommend keeping some Excedrin on hand. Trust me, you’ll thank me later!

So there you have itโ€”my top 10 tips for maintaining your starter locs and ensuring fast hair growth. If you have any questions or additional tips, feel free to drop them in the comments below. 1. http://@malikstrickland3561

Yeah, why your dreads donโ€™t listen to what he just said you donโ€™t have to wait until you go to your locstion some people donโ€™t get a re-twist into every three months. You wouldnโ€™t wait that long to wash your hair. You need to wash your locks at least once a month unless you get a twist every once a month but nobodyโ€™s going every once a month, unless theyโ€™re in the starter stage, Iโ€™m technically in the start stage I just re-twist every once a month unless I get a certain style

Donโ€™t wash your hair is cool if you donโ€™t have seborrheic dermatitis, worst advice to give someone with an itchy/flaky scalp is donโ€™t wash your hair, and if youโ€™re using oil but refuse to wash you get buildupโ€ฆ Water is essentially whats needed to loc/bud up essentially. Your hair folicles are a plant, your scalp is the soil. Unraveling is fine, wish people would stop making beginners fear the unraveling stage.
